i started this a while ago. It felt like a bit of a grind, but i stuck with it. got bored, played something else. ive gone back to it... but why is it so needlessly complicated? ive got three different "use keys" ive picked up loads of stuff for crafting etc. though i can only repair one of my large number of rubbish weapons. ive got a mission to do at night... do i just hang around for a bit? or do i need to find a magic room that lets me sleep until night time? whats with the changing clothes thing? does it ever got more exciting? or is another borderlands where its just like this... forever?

just died about 4 times, just trying to get to somewhere i need to be for the next mission, and its not night time yet.

Maybe i just like a linear game that tells a story... this just feels like work and ive been at work all week. i dont think this is for me.

It's an open world hybrid survival/rpg type game.

I believe you can change the day/night cycle if you go to a camp/rest point, but don't quote me on that as I've not played it in ages. That said, if you don't get on with the use of weapons/levelling up/equipment system etc it's pretty much an ongoing thing throughout the game. You do become less reliant on your gear as you gain certain skills, but it's still a pretty big element no matter which way you shake it.

Dying Light is one of the few zombie games I've ever genuinely enjoyed
sans the ending, which was pap
.

It could be it's just not your cup of tea, but unfortunately in terms of zombie games there's not many well done more linear options that I can think of either outside of the likes of Resident Evil etc.

You don't need to do the night missions when i played with a mate we never did them, its a great game just stick to it, dying light 2 on the other hand is pap

Yeh, Dying Light is one of my favourite games, DL2, not so much.

Keep at it. DL1 is a very highly rated game for a reason - it is brilliant and terrifying.

Before you know it you'll be parkouring through the towns like no mans business. Night times...well yes be afraid. My first night in DL1 back during release saw me climbing up a lamp post and waiting there until daylight arrived as I was trapped in the middle of no where. I'll never forget how scared I was.

It's also one of those games where you don't have to fight everything. In fact you're better off parkouring more and avoiding them.

Quite disappointed to see people saying DL2 is bad lol. I've had it in my backlog for a bit and now I feel even less enthused to play it.

Playing this atm with a pal and do find it a good game overall but agree with the OP it's complicated and I have little patience nowadays for such things which is spoiling the gameplay somewhat..

There a few houses/locations that you can clear of zombies and turn them into safehouse's. You can sleep there to make time pass.

I play dl2 and really enjoy it, I never played dl1, is it really better and why please?
While more linear DL1 had a more interesting world and a more engaging story. The combat and parkour both felt much better IMO too. The mechanics of how the world differs between day and night are excellent; for example it is really dark, challenging enemies are more plentiful and things can snowball very quickly.

For reference the Mrs and I plaid through the entirety of DL1 and its DLC in co-op and absolutely loved it. We've tried to get into DL2 both at launch and again after the major updates. Both times we knocked it on the head after 10-15 hours or so as we were not engaged by the world or gameplay at all.

I have played DL1 and the Following and loved it.. I also bought DL2 at release and enjoyed it but it felt lacking in my opinion.. Some stuff was fantastic like the verticality but not having firearms from the offset really was a put off for me and the whole community by the sound of it that they added them in later. I finished it and rarely went back to it except when they added the firearms but think it was too late. I am however REALLY looking forward to The Beast..

Interesting. When I played with a mate we pretty much ignored all firearms. Think we used a bow/crossbow and throwing stuff. We always felt that guns limited the 'feel' of the game, a bit like the grappling hook (which we tried to limit the use of so we did more free running).
