DynDNS Free no more

Me too! Meant to do it a while ago ever since dyndns started nagging about confirming I still want my free account, and why don't I upgrade..

I wouldn't mind paying a small yearly fee to any of these companies for a 1 ip dns. But the only paid options they have cost way more than I want to spend.

£1 per year for a single entry would be perfect

I just bought the dyndns service with the discount they gave. Worked out at £15 for the year. Maybe I should have just updated the firmware to a custom one on my WNDR3700 which had more services instead of only dyndns though - Ah well. I'll be on a new router by the time this expires anyway.

Thanks works a treat! However how does it update the IP address? Do you need to logon to their website from a computer on the LAN every now and then?

EDIT: Can add it to my Draytek 2820n Dynamic DNS settings page :)

I use the client on my server which updates the records.

I paid up because lazy. Wish I'd done a bit more research and gone with freedns.afraid.org, both my Router and NAS support it.

been with dyndns for decades and was very dissapointed they took this route. Got a no-ip account setup - they got another thing comin if they think i'm gunna pay more than a fiver a year for something as small as a dynamic dns address.

Just had this from noip.com:

Free Dynamic DNS hosts must be confirmed every 30 days by logging into your No-IP account and clicking update.
If you are still using blahblahblah and do not wish to have it removed from our system, please click the link below to confirm your hostname:

Didn't see any mention of that when signing up.... (might have not looked very carefully I suppose).... And when you click the confirmation link there is one of those infuriating recaptcha things to input.

Now looking for another provider....

Glad i kept the email when browsing on my phone, i thought it was the same as dyndns where you just click the link to confirm.
Only when i opened the email on my desktop client i noticed the captcha.
