Dynojetting a Fireblade

I have a 1997 CBR900RR-V and am thinking of getting it stage 1 Dynojetted. The place i'm taking it to has said 'blades respond well to Dynojetting with an aftermarket can (which I have) and an air filter such as a K&N. They just had one in producing an extra 14bhp at the back wheel in the midrange. They said no to expect much top end though, which is okay as 170mph+ is plenty fast enough. The cost for this is £270 inc the air filter, kit, set up and dyno runs. I have asked a mate with a later 'blade if it is worth getting it done and he has said no as I wouldn't notice the difference. I would like a second opinion as I think he's talking pap. My blade is 128bhp standard and 185kg and I could be looking at around 140bhp.
 
I guess the big question is do you find yourself lacking power? if you find yourself at 100% throttle wanting to accelerate faster then go for it, if not there is no point. in my experience on big bikes I've never needed more power for road use. My experiences are all on old 750cc and 600cc bakes though.
I would expect the air filter + new jets with a tune and dyno set up to give you faster throttle responce with a bit of extra torque and power. 128 -> 140 on what must be about 300kg with you + clothes + bike + fuel

32Bhp is nearly 25% extra power so it should be more than noticable.

of course if you are tracking or racing the bike then you absolutley have to get it done :D

This is what ive seen improved. Seen a few VTR1000's that have been on the Dyno at Revolution racing and had filters and jetting sorted. While they dont gain heaps of power, the curve is a lot smoother eps round where the "emissions check hole" would be. Torque is greatly improved at lower and middle end of the power curve.
I'd say go for it, for the above reasons, make it a lot nicer to ride.

It isnt so much about the extra topend power but the whole rev range will me smoother once setup properly. It should smooth out all those flat spots and give you a good midrange increase.

£270 aint bad if they do a proper setup, not a 'install to suggested settings and leave it'

Heres mine before and after, notice the dips and extra midrange.
