Hi all,

The vacuum cleaner packed up so I've stripped it down and the brushes have worn out on the motor.

Replacements seem cheap but are literally just the brush, not the plastic carrier and any items I find state to reuse the carrier.

I am confused as how to reattach the cable that comes out the back of the brush.

I have tried finding a guide online but no joy.

Anybody done such a repair and able to shed some light?

TIA.

Yep, I had to solder mine.

New brushes didn't fix mine unfortunately. I think when they start sparking away when they go they fry the capacitor as well. Trouble is it's a lot of faff to put back together to test, so I just got a new motor for it.

Did you go for the original Dyson or a cheap copy?

Tempted to do the same. One brush had completely worn out. The post-motor filter is black too so should probably get new filters too.

Just to sum up and close this thread I fitted a new motor (non-original part) and replaced the post-motor filter. All working fine but have since learnt for a one off charge of £75 Dyson will refurbish and repair any Dyson to new condition. So in hindsight should have done this as spent £40 on parts.
