Hi

I purchased a Dyson V11 in late 2019, this past couple of months its started playing up, where it keeps stopping and starting, today though its literally giving up altogether, it just occasionally decides to work.

Ive narrowed the issue down to the main unit itself, I've checked for blockages and filter is fine.

Its out of warranty, but first thing Im going to do is contact Dyson, these things are expensive and shouldn't give up after 3 years.

Anyone else had the same issue where it just constantly starts and stops?

If I can't fix it via Dyson, I might open it up and have a look. Last resort get another hoover, can anyone spec a decent wireless hoover other than a Dyson ?

Thanks

I have a v8 - symptom you describe happens if it's blocked in my experience. I know you said you've checked filters etc, what's the airflow like when it starts up?
May also be the battery? They do pack up eventually

Ive checked throughly for blockages, it does sound like that but im pretty certain it's not a blockage. Im thinking trigger or the battery.

it could be something simple like a contact joint, like battery or complicated like the motor is on its way out.

So either a new battery (cheap) or beyond economical repair.

I have a V6, had it for ages, still works. It doesn't suck nearly as well as i remember but still enough for me to keep it around.

Think I found the issue or at least another issue, trigger mechanism has a crack in it, common problem apparently with the v11 at least.
Ordered another, see if that fixes it, providing I can put the thing back together. Lol

Yep, thats what was broken on mine. On ebay you can find sellers selling more robust ones, which is what I done. Its been fine since :)

Longish reach narrow shafted T8 (Torx) for anyone reading who might need to do this!

I had a T8 but the screw in the handle shaft was unreachable with mine, luckily a normal thin flat head reached and was able to connect to the head of this screw.

I wonder if the newer Dyson have the same issue, I would class it as a defect.
