Hi all,

Can anyone recommend an e-commerce platform (eg: actinic, OS commerce etc)...

I've looked into both of these and didn't find either compelling having worked a little with them. We built a site with Actinic and the client really didn't like the admin area & OS Commerce is only a little better.

There are hundreds out there but just wondered if anyone has any recommendations. ;)

I think this has been posted up a few times. I've never used it, so I have no idea on its capabilities but I think the feeling is good.

http://www.opencart.com/

And then if you want some serious Open Source cart software you want to look at Magento.

i played with opencart for a few months in Decemberand found it really promising but obviously new. if i was a little bit better at php i could have edited to do anything i wanted as the structure was very easy to understand. if you can understand a good amount of php then i'd say go with opencart.

i also looked at prestashop but never used it and it appeared to do pretty much everything i felt was missing from opencart, though this was 10 odd months ago so a lot could have changed since then

Thats excellent, many thanks for the suggestions. Looks like there are some good alternatives to the ones I was struggling with!
