Just recieved this!
[FONT=Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif]We're sorry for the break in communications between emails, but we were concentrating on finishing the final sections of Sensible World of Soccer ahead of its launch on Xbox LIVE® Arcade and felt that rather than give vague promises we'd wait until we had something more concrete to say.
The issue has been this; we’ve been unhappy with the quality of the network performance and have rewritten significant proportions of the code that controls that part of the game. It's been the major sticking point over the past few months and caused us to abandon our original release date in late August.
We didn't decide this lightly; we want the title to play as you, the gamer, would want it to play, but a couple of months ago it wasn't achieving this. We certainly didn't want to harm the good name of SWOS by releasing a sub-standard product so we delayed the game - we wanted to get it right.
And importantly, we have that now!
Finally I can reveal that the game is nearly completed to our (and your) high standards and we hope you'll all be playing it over LIVE by Christmas Day. And yes, I mean Christmas Day this year.
So, if you're like me and can't wait for the game to become available via LIVE for the bargain price of 800 points, you don't have long to wait. And we promise you'll love it - don't forget the feedback from the community day we held in London during the summer...

There's a full and frank interview with executive producer Jim Brown about the delay to the game's release, available now on Eurogamer. It's worth a read: Link.
And if you want to rant and rave about having to fill your time playing sub-standard football video games while you wait for SWOS to be released, you can do it on the official forum. You'll be in good company.

Full speed ahead - Sensible World of Soccer, coming soon to Xbox LIVE® Arcade. And this time, we mean it..
