E-Mail and Speed

Hi,

Does anyone know if certain email service providers offer faster speed the email will reach? I mean seconds and milliseconds would be massive for me.

I'm using gmail and it's okay, but sometimes I get notification and it takes 2/3 seconds for that to appear in the inbox. I sometimes forget to click the notification and lost few precious seconds in what I do. And I imagine with so many customers gmail is definitely not the fastest email provider for sure.

Of course I know internet speed is always going the be first and most major bottleneck to receive fastest email, but are there any providers that put emphasis on speed? They can be paid as well if it means quicker.

Use instant messaging if you require messages to arrive instantly.

Edit: For what it's worth, looking at a range of email headers in both a Google Apps account and a free Gmail account, the steps between an email arriving at Google's servers and being delivered into my inbox consistently complete within one second. Despite Gmail being free I would be surprised if they didn't have one of the best email platforms, and certainly the most scalable.

Thanks Caged! And yea your gmail point makes a lot sense, and they can well be the fastest, but I thought well hey maybe I'll ask is there a faster service out there! I think Gmail is preety fast, but I always gotta look for fastest possible option.

Instant messaging wouldn't be possible in my scenario, I'm subbed to a service that sends email notification when certain info is updated and basically the faster you get email from the service the better.

If you're receiving notifications then that implies that whatever device you're using is aware of the new message. If you're talking about the speed of the Gmail web UI updating to show you this new message then you might be able to improve that using something like Mailbird.

Ah yes, didn't explain it well there I think, I have set notifications on Gmail, so I have gmail tabbed in browser and when email arrives I get that pop-up little window, and what happens is I get popup but when I go to inbox the email is not there and I have to wait few seconds before it appears which is very annoying, I'll try Mailbird and compare the speeds, thanks for that suggestion.

I use mailbird with Google but my phone pings with new emails before it shows in mailbird.

Thanks for that, this is strange and indeed the phone pings quicker than mailbird but also google notification..

Thing is it appears my phone at least doesn't ping all emails, and for some there is zero ping.

Thanks for the tip though.
