Hi,
I am not sure if this is the correct forum area for my query.

My Hotmail account keeps getting lots of spam from various web sites in the USA.

Now as far as I aware I do always tick or untick thoses boxes on web pages for recieving aditional marketing offers.
Also I keep clicking on the unsubscribe link on these damn spam e mails and I still keep getting about 10+ a week !

Any suggestions please ?

I use GMail which has very good spam filtering as already mentioned. As a desktop email client I use Emailtray which sorts your mail into four categories of priority from Top Priority, Low Priority, No Priority and Spam. You can configure which category should give you alerts. Coupled with Gmail, and once you've taught Emailtray, it is a very efficient and time-saving combination. The layout and operation is intuitive.

Gmail already sorts the spam when it reaches Emailtray and a quick gander through and a few quick deletes they are gone if and when you have a look. The important thing is you don't get notified about spam but can easily still look for mis-categorised items. Setting rules is very easy and backing up your emails is a push of a button.

The only thing I will say is if your mail is of a very sensitive/confidential nature it is passing through Emailtray.com's servers to be sorted so you need to think if this is a critical issue from a secrecy perspective for work etc but it's no problem to me. This potential issue applies to all mail sorting companies not just Emailtray. I've used them for three years and communicated with Emailtray staff and all seems professional and helpful.
