My pc case has an e sata port at the front, there's a cable running out to the back is getting this front port working as simply as lugging this cable into one of the motherboard serial sata ports on the intel controller?

sorry if it sounds a dum question but this is my first pc build and i've already managed to make a pig's ear of somethingas simple as fitting a artic pro 7 heatsink, by putting it on back to front with the fan blowing hot air back into the case rather that out the exhaust port

The answers yes, but you'll need a molex lead from your power supply to power whatever it is you intend to connect to the esata. (hard drive etc.)
