I am looking to build up a cheap gaming machine

Have just got a 3850 pro and want to go intel.

Have heard some good things about these chips, but just wanted to ask if anyone has played about with them properly as i heard that 3-3.4ghz is easily obtainable and puts it up with much more expensive CPU's

Cheers

Ben

I'd rather go for a used E21*0 chip. 512k cache is a little too low.

I had one of the single-core 430's and the lack of cache crippled it.

If you're looking at dropping £30 plus delivery on an E1200, then I'd seriously try to find the extra £10 to get you an E2XXX CPU. With gaming, the extra cache does seem to help framerates.

Having said that, I owned an E1200, and it was not a bad chip for the price I paid. It will do games, of course, and you might not even notice the frame rate differences depending on the game. After all, anything above 60fps is good, right?

You could do worse, but you could do better too! :)

Check the members market or that popular auction site, and you should be able to pick up a E21XX for the same price as an E1200. My E2180 (Which is currently clocked at 3.24ghz) was a mere £31 and not second hand either.
