Ok so new monitor arrived and works fine on analogue. Now I have transfered to my main pc and seem unable to get the connection working via DVI. Configuration of machine is two 7800GT's in SLI. For the purposes of the below (as I could not get this working) I have removed the second card. So now a single 7800GT using the latest forceware drivers from the website.
So here's what I have done:
-Connected via analogue - works fine.
-Turned off monitor and pc, connected only DVI cable and booted. From this I get no dislay at all. Monitor just says is in power save mode.
- Uninstalled graphics card drivers and booted via VGA with DVI connected. No display.
- Connected both analogue and DVI connections in VGA, booted, installed drivers. DVI used as secondary display (with the intention of making this primary). When I switch to DVI dislay on the monitor.... hey presto no picture!
- Found something called DVI recovery on the web which is supposed to edit some config file to stop monitors going into powersave. Seems to have been an issue with some Dells and Viewsonics. However could not get this working.
Can it really be this difficult!
Any help or advice greatly appreciated!
