hi.

I'm getting that CPU for a small 'home server' that i am building now, i wonder if the stock fan is going to be enough or will i need to buy a new one like freezer 7 pro or something? i don't care about the noise, just wonder how good or bad it'll cool the cpu as it's going to be working 24/7.

and btw, it's a 64bit cpu right?

thanks

yes the OEM intel cooler is pretty damn good, and yes it is 64 bit.

depends if you are overclocking or not.

the stock fan on the E2140 has an aluminum based heat sink so its not has good as those you get with the E4300 upward.

regardless i have a spare system that is overclocked to 2700mhz on the E2140 with its stock heat sink, temps are a little hight but i suspect that the chip is not a great clocker.

so either way, it should be just fine, otherwise intel would have not packaged it with their cpu.

Should be solid as a rock.

My E2140 went up to 2.8Ghz on stock volts + HSF, and was 24/7 orthos stable.

My 2140 is at 3.2GHz totally stable at 1.375V on the stock cooler. Load temp is an indicated 48 degrees C - needless to say I'm very happy with it.
