Well I'm overclocking my E2160, paired with an eVGA 650i. I've got it stable at 2.43ghz with no overvolting needed or anything. On load hits around 55 degrees and idles at around 35. I decided to bump it up to 2.8 (I know it was a big jump) and it just hung on the "Genuine Intel E2160" screen yada yada yada. So I cleared the CMOS and it booted this time. Was still at 2.8 even though I cleared the CMOS. Is a little bit more vcore needed?

The default vcore for E21x0 CPUs isn't the same for every one of them so best to say what yours is defaulting to. The max Intel set as the VID appears to be 1.325v and you can usually go a few .1's above that without temps becoming much of a problem but it does depend on the ability of your cooling setup.

Use CoreTemp beta 0.95.4 to see what your CPU's default vcore is (it's labelled as VID) but make sure speedstep etc is off otherwise it'll probably show you the 6x multiplier vcore so run Orthos or whatever to see the correct reading.

Sounds rather hot for that clock, stock cooling ? Make sure your stress testing it properly aswell, no need to dissable speedstep so long as you take into account the fact that its on...save the environment and all that :)

Scythe Infinity. I have a pretty cramped case with bad airflow. I'm testing it properly with Orthos, Small FFT's, and Blend.
