E2180 Help/Advice

Hey Chaps.

Looking at purchasing the E2180 but un-sure what motherboard or memory combiniation to use with it.

Gigabyte P35 DS3L + 2x1gb Geil ULL PC6400 should see you right.

I had a few bits spare, and I asked on the MM for a cheap CPU and was offered this one.

I can vouch for the DS3... Wonderful board.

Also more recently I got an ABIT AB9 however, it does not know its a Dual core for a while into starting up, plus it fails to boot from the CD until you up the BIOS ( WTF? ) but once the BIOS was in, it was ok.

Both these boards are running GEIL but both these boards have also run with Corsair too!

Sounds a good setup.

Will the DS3L work with the E2180 out of the box or does it require a BIOS update in order for it to work.

It does not need a BIOS update to work, however the included BIOS is out of date so it could do with one when the OS is in, but no, to get everythign up and running, it does not require an update.

Will get an E2180 sitting at 3.3ghz 24 hours Orthos stable no problem.
