E2180 - looking good

I'm only upto 2.8GHz at the moment with mine on the Abit IP35. Never really done OCing before so taking things easy.

It was stable in the orthos blend test for a couple of hours before i turned it off and went to bed. temps got up to 42.

i'll try 2.9GHz tonight.

I sent them a web note yesterday asking if they plan to get them in.

They replied,
we may get stock of this we have not ETA at the moment i am affraid thank you.

Sounds like they arent going to bother to be honest. :(

There are indeed, and what is really hacking me off is that I have seen them going for only £8 more than my recently purchased E2160. :(. I expected a bigger hike - wish I had held on.

that sort of thing usually happens to me... i buy something, then a week later it's in the 1/2 price sale.

Thanks was going to send them a webnote about them. Looks like they wont be getting stock in :(

I dont believe his temps at all, everyone else who owns a E2180 so far says they are like an oven > 3.4Ghz

39deg at that overclock with an ac7 ? hah. 3.8ghz with a temp like that, id love to see what happens if he opens a program. probably start giving off radiation or something.

Given the Tjunction detected as 85*c, I'd say that 39*c is offset by about 15*c, making his idle temperatures about 54*c. Sounds more like it for 1.525V with a Freezer 7 Pro :o

Regardless, that's not bad at all to be able to boot in at 3.8GHz. Would really want to see what kind of 24/7 overclock he could get out of it.

If these are the same core architect as the Core 2 Duos why do they run much hotter than them?

because hes got a freezer pro and hes overclocked to 3.8 ..??

Post above makes it more realistic though :)
Would like to see a 24/7 overclock too

No.

These do run hotter than the other Core 2 Duos, just look at the E2140/E2160 thread and compare it to the E6*00 series. Im just wondering why?

They're a different architecture iirc, and also the choice of motherboard seemed to play a large role in temperatures which I found a little confusing.

E2180 is about 10-15 degrees cooler on the M0 stepping, at least that's what I've found.
