Got the following hardware

E2180 with Artic Cooler pro 7 on it
3gb GEIL 800mhz 4-4-4-12 ULL ram
Jetway 8800GT
250gb WD HDD

Highest my cpu will go is 2.66Ghz atm due to games crashing if I go higher :(

Currently at 1.4v core, 1.23 CPU VTT 1.37v MCH

temps are really good though still lol

What can I do to go higher?

Trying for 300x10 atm on 1.44v, also reseated all my ram and given everything a good clean and im into windows now. Need to test stability ofc.

edit abit EQ is reporting 1.38v CPU voltage under load whilst my MCH voltage is spot on. Is this a good example of undervolting?

Ram is also 2.06v instead of 2.1 and im running 4 sticks of it atm

Games wont start at 300x10 with 1.44v in bios, trying 1.46 and seeing what windows says the cpu is at

1.46v boots and says its giving 1.44 in windows but got corruption on UT3 opening videos so backed it off

Trying 2.8ghz (280x10) with 1.38v and 1.2750 VTT

well got no chance of even 2.8 stable, looks like I got abit of a poor chip overclocking wise. Might as well start saving for a decent stock quad lol

My board says that the vcore is 1.5, tho speedfan reports it as 1.42, and the temps report accordingly. An insane vdroop, but as said earlier, just up the vcore in bios :)

you'll know you've got too much volts when your cpu loads 60+ :)

just priming mine at 3.4, 1.42vcore (1.5 in bios) - not too shabby these chips!

what mobo do you have?
*edit* and what psu do you have? crashing when playing games can be a power draw issue..

IP35 (abit) normal model and a corsair 520W modular PSU which delivers 40A per 12v rail

If you are running the ram at too low a speed that can cause problems. If you are using the wrong range of FSB strap, again, that can cause problems.

please explain what you mean by what you say here. Ive always kept the RAM BELOW 800 MHZ when trying the overclocks, that what you mean?

right currently prime95ing the following

300x10
1.38v vdrooped to 1.35v -.- lol
RAM 1:1 divider (600) with slack timings (5-5-5-18)

Currently at 42C under load so heat defo isnt the problem, will see how stable it is.

You are aiming way too low IMO dude.

hey im no pro when it comes to this, had major problems getting it stable at even this clock yesterday so trying this one out first. My board seems to hate FSB changes over 300 so im trying to see what I can safely get to without going well into it as i havent go much free time atm :(

E2180 with Abit IP35 (not pro) - what would you suggest?

Tempts are 44C under full load atm lol so ive got abit of room temp wise

alright trying different approach...

350x9 = 3150
1.42v

RAM still 1:1

edit LOL @ vista, thinks its 3.5ghz on the welcome screen hehe. Checked with CPU-Z and its defo 3150 with 350FSB

Right keeping the RAM at 1:1 divider (with no 25 etc after it) has definately given the overclocking a real boost now. Im currently downloading, running 3 programs and prime95ing it at 3.15ghz atm and its at 46C under full load ^^

Okay just been playing UT3 on these settings which is the game I have the biggest problems with and its fine :D Will try for higher 2moro

Cant push it past 3.2ghz as my board wont accept anything over 355 FSB nor will it do 1.44v properly. Currently stable at 3.15ghz at 1.41v, 1.37v MCH, 2.1V RAM (geils default) VTT at 1.2375v and CPU GTT at 67%

my max is defo 3.15ghz as anything above it at any voltage doesnt work and crashes the system. Set your RAM at 1:1 with none of the 15/25/50 garbage after it and slowly raise the FSB. When you get near 300 FSB drop your multiplier and raise your vcore upto around 1.42v and MCH to 1.37 as thats what mine is at and its rock solid. Good luck mate
