E2200 first impressions. (3.5ghz on air)

So for anyone interested here is an E2200 bought from OcUK this week and put into my HTPC. A couple of benchies below. Not had chance to run an extended Prime or Orthos test yet (will be done tonight).

Seems to be an FSB wall @ 320 and had to put 1.5v through to run these benchies at 3.5ghz or I got a BSOD.

Idles round the 40c mark (Noctua U12-F air cooler being used)

Super PI

NuclearMC Bench

CPU Mark

I'm very impressed thus far and the 11x multi certainly helps keep the ram acceptable at levels at a 1:1 ratio. No 3dmark tests due to only having an x1800xt in my htpc.
Anyhow make up your own minds, just proves to me that the E2xxx's are still the best value CPU's available today in my opinion.

Hows CPUZ reporting 1.536v when your only putting 1.5v through it ? Typo ? Did you possibly mean 1.6v ?
Also, seems odd my E2140 matches all those benchmarks at 3.2ghz...wonder if its due to a faster FSB speed ?

I wondered about the voltage thing myself, cant explain it to be honest. Definately only 1.5, I would never try 1.6v it would scare me

Load temps around the 60c-62c area. Ran Orthos for 6 hours last night no probs.

This morning before I came to work I dropped the multi to 9 to see if there was an FSB wall and it turns out I was wrong.

With 1.55v & 3.6ghz (400fsb x 9). I was able to run all the benchies as above and temps only went up by around 2 degrees.

Will see tonight whether I can squeeze more out of it. Again this has not been Orthos or Prime tested @ 3.6. Just want to see what the maximum I can get it to post at.

Very nice. One of these will be a great upgrade for my son on his Asrock 775 Dual-Sata. Currently he has a P4 clocked to 3.6ghz. Ocuk still seems to be the only retailer stocking these.

I've found one other e-tailor stocking these but their prices were about the same. No point risking the lack of service from another shop when you are assured of a quality service here.

Often motherboards over-volt. I have mine set to give my CPU 1.375V but CPUZ, Speedfan etc. reports this as 1.4V, which I feel is accurate.

I would say go for one of these if your mobo is fsb limited (like some of the Asrocks) as the 11x multiplier will help a lot. Otherwise the 2180 is still a fantastic cpu that overclocks extremely well. On the other hand, as there is so little in it pricewise you may as well go for one of these.

LMAO - I get about the exact same speed and at about the same voltage from my E2180. Seems it's not worth the extra few quid so far. I even felt that about the E2180 as I think the E2160 would be fine also.

All depends what motherboard you get, the worse the motherboard, the higher the multi needs to be to compensate for the poor max fsb

Aye true. This IP35 hasn't had a problem so far for high FSB (fingers crossed). I do need/want to try for 500 to see if it can run it.

The 11x multi also helps keep the OC requirements on the ram to minimum as well if you dont have good clocking ram because of the low FSB. Although I do have Partiot Extreme ram running with it on an MSI Neo2 FR.

This would be great in an ASrock board with their FSB walls.

Personally I would still go with this over the E2180, not that I think its any faster, I just like the 11x multi on it

Also if anyone else would me to run some other benchies for reference on it then please ask I'm happy to oblige..!!

At today's prices though there is no excuse at getting anything less than 2GB of PC 6400, it's hardly expensive
