E2200 + GA-P35-DS3R overclocking woes

Well, I just got my new PC...yay. But I'm having trouble overclocking (the F6 BIOS) - I don't know what settings to change - whenever I change the CPU clock or the FSB, (and save and exit), the PC restarts a few times and then I'm left with nothing changed, although the values in the BIOS seem to remain the same.

I'm quite baffled as to what to do - I've also got a problem with the Tuniq Tower not increasing or decreasing Fan Speed when I turn the dial on the fan thingy that came with it - I have it plugged into the CPU_FAN but I was told to change a BIOS setting to allow it? But I don't know what I'm looking for :/

Any help would be appreciated. :/

FSB is 220 (the control option is set as [Disabled])
Multi is 11x
Ram Speed is 800 800
VCore is 1.32500V
Memory Voltage is set to Normal (the voltage control option is set to Manual)

Try:
In MIT
Booster- Auto
Clock ratio- 11x
clock control- enabled
host frequency- 230
pci express freq- 101
CIA2- disabled
performance enhance- standard
system mem multi- 2.00
dram timing select- Auto
DDR voltage- +0.1

This will take the memory out of the equation; you can up the mem multi when you have a decent OC.

If this doesn't cure your problem, then try increasing the CPU voltage

HOpe this helps

I changed the settings and it went to post and it showed the CPU as being overclocked, but as soon as it hit the memory test, it restarted with the old settings. Could this be a memory problem? I have 4x1gb of GeiL ULL.

You may need to up the DDR voltage a bit more - the RAM is rated to 1.9-2.3v which would be +0.1 to +0.5; but +0.2/0.3 should be enough.
Quite often 4 sticks don't work properly without an increase in the northbridge voltage, so +0.1/0.2 onto (G)MCH overvoltage may help.
If all else fails try just 2 sticks instead of 4.

I tried it, but it keeps getting stuck on the Memory Test. I'll go try with just two 2 sticks and post the results.

Looks like I've run into a new problem - I think I accidentally turned the PC off during a restart/saving of the CMOS settings and it stopped posting. I figured I'd try resetting the CMOS but it had no effect. I did it a couple of times, but now the PC won't even power on. I've checked all the attached cables, but nothing.

Have I somehow borked the board?

P.S. I tried with just 2 sticks, but the same problem happened at the memory test.

First try disconnecting from the power; take the mobo battery out, put jumper in clear CMOS and leave for 30mins. Put battery back in, pull jumper, restart and pray!

No luck here, no life from the PC at all aside from my Saitek Eclipse II keyboard lighting up and then down. That makes me think something has gone wrong with the motherboard.

I have a new case on the way, so hopefully a rebuild will make sure I haven't missed anything.

:/

Forgive the thread revival but since then I've got a new case and I found out that one of the sticks of RAM had died - so I RMA'd and have the new set in. It's all working fine except that I still can't overclock my CPU :/

I tried everything again - and nothing. It posts, and shows that it has been overclocked, but as soon as it hits the memory test, BAM, restart and it defaults back.

:/
