E2200 vs E2140

I would say yes - from what I've seen you should be able to take the E2200 higher in terms of clock speed considering it has the higher multiplier :)

Great. Folliwing on from our discussion in the other thread, how about:

  • OCZ 2GB KIT (2x1024MB) DDR2 800 (PC6400) Platinum XTC Memory
  • Intel E2200 Core 2 Duo 2.2Ghz, 2MB Cache CPU - Retail

for £28 more than the

  • AMD AM2 Athlon 64 4800+ Windsor Core, Dual Core 2.5GHz, 2x 512KB Cache, Energy Eff'' CPU - Retail
  • Abit NF-M2S SKT AM2 DDR2, SATA2, GLAN, Audio Motherboard

Just built a system for a chum, banged an E2160 up to 3ghz at only 1.35v in bios, at 8 x 375. Not worth paying the extra for an E2200. Wish I'd bought an E2160 myself!

Looks good :) Which Gigabyte board though?

KelticDaz - what can you get your E2200 to?

i see no difference between the two; all you get is a higher multiplier...

i would, if given the chance, go for a 5000+BE, but then I am partial to AMD, so...

The multiplier is the only difference between e2200 and 40, but with only 20 quid in price difference i went with the higher model because I could. Together with my gigabyte p35 it runs just fine at 3.2ghz for hours of css, though i keep it at 2.6ghz for reassurance while i'm working.
