Building a new rig for my Father-in-law, so he won't be clocking, and I won't be clocking it for him (he doesn't want me to).

So both CPU's at stock, which is the better?

Price wise inc mobo's there is nothing in it, so its all down to performance which path I go for him.

I'd go Intel as price for performace the E2220 is a good cpu (speaking from experience of an E2200.) As far as the AMD is concerned I have a feeling the Intel would be better from what I've read but I haven't experienced it so cannot say for definate.

Well it's just that the E2200 is only 2.2GHz, while the X2 6000+ is 3.0Ghz... is the E2200 really 800Mhz clock for clock more efficient?

I know the Core2's are more efficient than the X2's, but that is a big clockspeed gap.

Actually, the 7750 BE is currently exactly the same price. :) I'd go for the 7750. Big Cache > 400MHz more per core.

Oooo thanks for the heads up on the 7750, never even considered looking at the phenom core cpu's.

Ta, i'll have a look at those... :D
