Hey guys,

What are your opinions on sites such as E2save and mobiles.co.uk?

I'm thinking of getting a phone contract in either of these places, but not through redemption. I have read reviews and they have been mostly negative. :(

Some other burning questions:
1) Will all phones bought on contract on this site be unlocked?
2) Do I need a credit card to buy from them?
3) Do I need to further deal with them once I have my contract (that isn't redemption)
4) Are the insurance/tech support add on thats included in the contract easy to cancel ?

They're doing a much cheaper deal overall which would mean I could afford the phone I want, so I'm not sure if I should just buy from them, so asking here first!

My current T-Mob contract is through them, they were pretty good tbh.
I had the phone within a couple of days, but it was dead on arrival, so they advised me to take it to a carphone warehouse for them to verify it was broken.
They picked it up off me the day after I’d been to CPW, and I had a replacement two days after which is working perfectly fine.
Don’t forget to go through Quidco for a nice chunk of cash back.

My current DHD TMobile contract was from e2save. Very cheap with a quick turnaround. Cancelled the addons immediately the email notification about them came through with no issues.

Now I need have nothing more to do with them as long as my phone doesnt break :)

I tried to get a contract through e2save and had a very bad experience and would not go near them again.

Ordered the phone online and no problems at all. Got an email the next day asking me to ring them. Apparently I needed to send them some details so they could confirm my credit status. Meant sending away a copy of a bill and bank statement.

The whole process was very inconvenient as they never rang me, I had to ring them every couple of days. The outside firm that does the credit checks wouldn't accept my forms of evidence ( Recently changed utility company and only get online statements).

It would have taken weeks to specially order a bank statement and god knows about the utility statement, another month?

I suppose the statements and credit rating are my fault but I found the customer service appauling as I had to be the one constantly ringing them to find out what was going. They never returned my calls when I was trying to speak with the advisor I had been dealing with.

When I eventually cancelled I didnt get my deposit back from them and to be honest couldnt face a battle with their terrible customer services to get it back.

I guess my comment would be if you have a good credit rating and get the mobile strait away then go for it. Otherwise stay well clear since the customer service is terrible.

Hope this helps

I got my Desire through Mobiles.co.uk

My phone was unbranded/unlocked.
Didn't need a credit card.
Haven't had to deal with them further. Although my first redemption is due next month so I'll see how that goes...
And I managed to cancel the insurance and gadget support within the first week :)

Hi tom-17,

I am so sorry to hear you have had a bad experience with e2save, this is not the service we aim to offer or by any means feel that this is acceptable.

If you want to discuss your experience with my self please don't hesitate to contact me at [email protected].

Thanks,

Sarah_e2

Both subsidiaries of CPW, and thus stock grey-box (unlocked) phones.

Don't rate E2Save, but Mobiles is pretty good if you avoid the redemptions deals.

For completeness, I have ordered a new phone on mobiles.co.uk on Friday at 10 pm and the Phone arrived at Monday morning. While there is not much contact unlike in the high street, they do email you and message you on the progress of your order as well.

The gadget line and Phonecare can also be easily cancelled as I found out.

Hi, I work at CPW so I'll try to answer to the best of my knowledge.

1) All phones we sell at CPW bar the iPhones (we only sell these on contract) and Windows 7 phones, are unlocked
2) Not sure but most likely since you'll need to set up a direct debit for your contract and they will need your details to perform credit checks
3) Although those 2 companies are part of CPW, unfortunately I don't believe we handle issues with their customers
4) If you mean the Geek Squad insurance, then yes it's very easy to cancel. You can cancel at anytime as it's not a fixed contract with a minimum length

I've been getting contracts via e2save for years now, last one was via mobiles.co.uk, think I've also had one via onestopphoneshop.

These have all be cashback contracts. I take care to get the claims in on time and send Recorded Delivery. I've never had any problem with cashback and not had any claim rejected.

e2save is doing my head in. Trying to order a contract phone for 2 days now (going through quidco) but it refuses my card and says:

"There was an error validating your payment details - please check all your info is correct, or try another card. If you are sure the card details are correct, please contact your bank to see if there's an issue."

I've tried 2 cards, both working fine but always get same error. Tried about 6 times now. Called them up and they said "it must be a glitch, try again later". No good.

Basically avoid. Have a look on money saving expert, theres a massive thread on such companies. They dont get great reviews. If you want a htc type phone have a look at the orange san frasncisco. Only 70 100 quid (70 with discount). Get a sim only contract and youve got a great deal!

Had a very... confusing experience with these companies.

Ordered a phone from mobiles.co.uk 2 years ago. No problems at all, got the phone, got the cashback, everything was fine. Now that my contracts close to running out, I got a missed call from them. Now, the number is an outbound only number so when I ring it I only get an automated message saying something like "Thanks for calling mobiles.co.uk. We tried to call you about your mobile phone contract, sorry that we missed you. We will try to contact you again in the next few days. Thank you for your call"

So then they contact me again and this time I'm actually near my phone so I can answer it. We do the deal and my order is processed for my new phone. I then get an email later saying that my order from E2save has been dispatched. Cue me thinking WTF

I call up mobiles.co.uk and as e2save is a sister company, they handle all upgrades for customers and so my info's basically been passed onto them. So now I'm an e2save customer. Meh, no problems as of yet so fingers crossed.

Used mobiles.co.uk no problems so far. Payed up on there line renal too remember they are owned by the carphone warehouse.

Sorry if this seems a really daft question but could I put an O2 sim in it? Just these redemption deals are the most affordable but seem too risky to get messed around.
