This is incredible, I'm surprised by MS :D

I've just started reading all the crazy headlines, install to disc (sorts the problem of the loud annoying drive and my only problem with the 360) and FF13 :O

OMG Disc installs!

That is superb.

Love it! Will this be part of the fall update?

Lets hope sony raise the bar and we have some real competition!

EDIT - Wow, 1680x1050 res support! I don't use a monitor but that is a huge plus! Will have to revive my old xbox for that!

Because they were mandatory to speed up the loading times to the same level of the 360's, where as the 360's install is a completely optional extra and will still have decent load times from the DVD whether you choose to take advantage of it or not.

Haha! I was just about to say that! Funny aint it. ;)

Mandatory and optional installation - pretty big difference if you ask me. Don't forget that some PS3 owners are finding themselves saddled with required 2-6GB installations, whereas 360 owners don't have to go that route at all.

Hardly mandatory if the majority of games dont require it, I cba to quote drive speeds again, but 2-6Gb installs arent required on that many games. PS3 owners are saddled with installs just in the same respect that 360 owners are saddled with loud drive noise.

The only reason xbox 360 doesn't have mandatory install is because they didn't offer a built in HDD to begin with. They can't go and say you now need a HDD to play games.

Themes are just 4 wallpapers really are they not (excluding guide background).

So I assume these will be 4 wallpapers when you go up and down on the new dash.

Gamerpics... now that's something else.

I was just thinking, how will your theme packs that you payed money for work with the new dash ?, will they compensate you ?

And gamer pics.... I do remember seeing a "this is non-redeemable" agreement on purchases (Yes I'll admit I did once spend some money on a Dead Rising pic set... I was drunk) so I'm starting to think that this monies gone...

I guess they could still use the backgrouds.

the old dash is still there

not sure what it means TBH

Dashboard built into the new Xbox Guide. For everyone who loves the blades interface, it’s not going away; they are now built directly in to the new Xbox guide. Every feature and option is available right from the guide. You can even access your full games library at all times. No matter where you are (in dash or in game), immediately call up your games played list and directly launch a game.

from the E3 clip all i saw was the 3d/media center type new dash nterface then up popped a cutdown blades interface in the middle for access for somthing else. It looked rather like a blades app rather than a full dashboard, certainly no theme to it

The guide (side blade when you press the X button) will now be the current (whole thing) dashboard in the middle of the screen like the XMB on the PS3 if you like.
