Ok, hold onto your hats but my 6300 is now running at 2.1Ghz  well i'm taking it easy for my first overclock ;)

What i was going to ask is my core temps seem a little hot, they're idling at 55C according to TAT (speedfan says the same).

Stock cooler
clock: 300mhz
multi: 7
vcore: 1.25v in bios (1.216v in CPU-Z)
vdimm: 2.1v

is that about right?

Hmm there a tad hot - even for the stock cooler as i managed to clock upto 2.8 with mine - try reseating it :) OR by an aftermarket cooler

ok cheers :) i'll have a go at reseating it tomorrow after work.

Just as an update I was running Orthos for about 10 mins when i was posting and both cores went up to 65C.

I was deffo going to get an aftermarket cooler though, makes sense tbh :)

After reseating it a few times, i think the culprit is the TIM it's old and looks a bit cack. I'm not too impressed with the stock cooler mounting method either.

I'll get some better stuff tomorrow along with a Noctua NH-U12F and an AC NV5 rev3 for my graphics while i'm at it.

Edit: i think the comment that the TIM is cack is an understatement, it's Titan Nano Blue which according to my research is probably about the worst stuff on the market. I don't even remember buying it so it must have come with something but it was all that i could find lying around.

You live and learn ;)

That's better :)

Running at 43C load (orthos) now for the last 12 mins.

Gonna crank the clock up a bit now :)
