E39 Instrument Cluster Repairs

Anybody have any real world experience of getting the instrument cluster repaired for the pixel issue?

I have found one good link for a guy down Southampton way (Rudi?), but again any other recommendations would be greatly received.

The guy in Southampton is probably your cheapest option unless you want to DIY.

The guy in Southampton is excellent.
I wouldn't attempt a DIY repair unless you really know what you're doing. I had a go myself but when it got to the point where I needed to take the gauge needles off, I bottled it.
He charges £80 which is a small fraction of the price of a new cluster if you trash your one with a botched DIY repair.

That is exactly where I got to last night! The needles are damn hard to get off if you cannot practice on a non-mission critical cluster first.

I cannot get hold of him currently, judging by his ring tone I suspect he maybe away on holiday. I take it that you have just seen the link from eBay or do you have any other contact details?

I found the dials reasonably ok to remove with a chip puller but yeah, chap in Southampton for the win
