Hi,

I've just run Orthos stress on my new E4300 and its at 82 degrees according to Core Temp beta 0.94 WTF!!

Just how accurate is the Core Temp software? I've got a Scythe Ninja for cooling so should I be worried?

Cheers

Clock speed and Vcore please, CoreTemp should be as accurate as it gets (assuming the on die sensors are working right).

Idle temp in Coretemp for that settings you were running to get 82C would be handy as well.

Cheers smsmasters,

Does that mean that my temps are really ~ 67 degrees and that everything is ok? I cannot use TAT as it does not work, so is Core Temp 15 degrees out?

Its just that I've seen some people on this forum E4300 idle at 26 degrees in core temp, so does that mean that they are really idling at ~11 degrees???

Sorry but it doesnt seem to make sense to me

cheers for the link but by going by what is said in that thread, then that means my temps are at 97C in coretemp!!!! ie offset by 15C.

I can't get TAT to work on my mobo ASUS P5N-e so I can only use CORETEMP.

Surely that can't be right...can it???

Cheers for helping

What does Asus PCProbeII say your temps are?

This is the only thing I can use on my 4300/P5N-E/Ninja due to having Vista 64

NB: At 3Ghz with that setup and 1.375 + 100mv I was getting around 60c running orthos.

Just tried Pc probe 2 and got 60C while running Orthos but Coretemp said 80C?

Now if Coretemp is wrong, then why does everyone use it to monitor their temps on this forum?

Cheers

Any one smell something burning?

I'm told Speedfan just released a new beta version that has the .dll signed by Verisign.. which means it now works on Vista 64 (as well as other versions of Vista)

May be of use for some.

I've got a E4300 with a Scythe Ninja on an Asus P5B running at 3GHz. The highest I've got it was 60ºC on coretemp. I've heard that TAT is around 15ºC out when using a E4300 though.

My e6400 peaks at about 51 as read in Core Temp - in Speedfan / BIOS etc though it reports my CPU temperature (taken from beneath the cpu socket I think) at 60 - 61.

This seems to be the opposite of what the C2D temperature guide says?

Touch the bottom of the cpu heatsink. If you can touch it for longer than 10 seconds then it's ok.

That could just mean the heatsink is not applied properly.

If coretemp says the temperature is 82c then its 82c afiak

Ive had 83c on a e6400, its perfectly possible.

To avoid damage, take everything back to stock. Load up windows, load lots of monitoring software and take a screencap then get back to us. Give us your full spec and bios values also.

You can doublecheck coretemp with a program called rmclock, it will show the same temp because it measures in the same way

72c coretemp , 1.47v under load

ok cheers guys I'm gonna take my pc to bits and try the stock intel cooler to see if my Scythe Ninja isn't seated properly...I'll let you know how i get on tomorrow

well I've installed the stock Intel cooler and its still getting up to 80 degrees on full load...so I am now at a loss at what to do next.
I placed a temperature probe near where the heatsink touchs the cpu and it reads a temp of 52 degrees when Coretemp says 80 degrees, does this mean that both my Scythe Ninja and the intel cooler are not working properly or could i just have a very hot cpu?
Any ideas welcome..

cheers
