E4300 + DS3 boot strangeness..

So I thought I'd lightly overclock my system to around 2.7Ghz. I tried raising the FSB to 300 and it gladly booted into windows and was stable, as expected.

My problem now is that every time I turn the computer off, it won't post when I turn it back on. It'll sit there idle until I hit the reset button and then it'll go back to default clocks and post as usual. If I now go back to the BIOS screens, I can apply the overclocking settings and it'll boot and be stable again.

Anyone experienced this before? Ideas? :)

Cheers!

ah ****.. :) I guess that rules out 24/7 overclocking, might be more of a "in desperate times" kinda thing.. Can't bother going into the BIOS setup every boot!

Try upping the PCI-E bus frequency from the normal 100 to 105, that change has fixed this problem for some people.

What you talking about your supposed to keep that locked!

What ram are you using?
It happened to me with my E6400, i have GeIL ram, all i had to do was upp the voltage for the ram, now it boots everytime without fail :)

hum I guess it could be something with the ram.. I'm using 1gb twin bla bla (not value..) corsair DDR2 5400 but clocking them slightly higher.. What's weird is it being stable if I apply the overclocking settings at 2nd try, almost as if it needs a running start :D

I also have the ram at +0.2v (it used to be at +0.3v but it still happened).

Now that I think of it, the BIOS page keeps flashing saying system voltages are not optimized. What exactly is it complaining about? It seems to want memory voltages set to +0.4v to be quiet, isn't that a bit too much?
