E4300 & E4400

Is there any reason why you would want to order an E4300 over an E4400 when the E4400 is priced £13 cheaper???

Do you think that price has anything to do with the imminent intel price cuts that are just around the corner???

I personally can't see a reason, they both have 800Mhz bus both have 2MB cache, but the e4400 has a 10x multiplier and the e4300 has the 9x...although the 4300 has the l2 stepping and the 4400 has the b2 stepping, which supposedly doesn't clock as well....i'm getting a 4400 for my rig anyhow

I think they may have some pricing problems maybe. And are probaiblly waiting for the offical prices from Intel.

So if the E4300 doesnt dissapear it should be cheaper than the E4400.

If you read here: E4400 overclocking it shows that it doesn't clock as high as the E4300. But at stock it performs a bit better than the E4300 because it is clocked at 2GHz and the E4300 is clocked at 1.8GHz.

So if your just using it for stock and no overclocking then the E4400. But from what i have read the E4300 is still better at overclocking.

4300 has the l2 stepping and the 4400 has the b2 stepping, which supposedly doesn't clock as well....

That's can't be right? for a start the B2 (conroe) stepping is producing the best overclocks so far and secondly I thought both the e4300 and e4400 were L2 (Allandale) chips?

Thats right - both chips using the Allendale core and L2 stepping, but for some reason the 4400 doesn't clock as well
