Quick Q, using TAT what would people see as the max safest core temp, my cpu runs generally quite hot, on my ds3 with the freezer7. Havnt had v long but the thermal conductor should have hardened. Concidering replacing it with as5 though see if it makes a difference.
Oh its all inside a lian-lie pc-7 too.

@ 1.392 vcore
370fsb x8(yes 8, just testing overclock etc at the mo, trying to get a beasty one)
it goes between 71-75 at full load using TAT to test. My rooms quite warm at the moment mind.
Is this safe? It idles at about 45-50 mind. Thinking the as5 could help, aswell as possibly fiddling inside case to improve airflow and exhaust.

Oh yea, also i dont have any fan aimed etc at the chipset at the moment, but the pc7 has fairly capabale case fans as a lot of people know, is this ok for the moment? its only @ +0.1v

75c is probably too hot but its not going to blow up or anything. I doubt you run tat normally so any long term issue is not much concern either.

Ive had a conroe at 83c but on a regular basis it doesnt see above 65c which is when it would normally throttle I think. I think 60c is lower then nessecery, I wouldnt trim an overclock back because I went past that anyway.

Theres a thread listing peoples temps and overclocks, thats a good general guide of what works.

im going to put it back at stock tommorow and see what it idles at, if its idling at 50 without much of a decent overclock theres no chance in hell i think i could keep it below 60 under load =/ might try to reseat the heatsink, although the thermal on bottom of freezer7 will have hardened now?

I agree with silversurfer, 80C+ is extremely hot, but it won't blow anything up!

If you don't want your room to become a sauna, 60C is suitable.

under 2x sp04 load it only hits 59/60, that any better easy?
**** 2nd core error'd after 37secs :)
its done it again after 23, the others still fine. Think we'v established which cores a gimp :)
cpu-z saying im @ 1.408v at idle sometimes 428
under load 1.376? this normal?

it hits 75 at max(although thats only using TAT, which doesnt seem to reflect real world application usage

Yeah, forgot to mention that. The chances of having both cores at 100% usage for a significant period (playing games, etc) without benching, etc are small.

think ill move the pc from under desk to ontop of it after iv fiddled inside, part of the problem also.
