E4300 overclock also overclocks the memory.

I will build a new E4300 system as soon as I sold my old components but what speed memory should I buy?

I will be watercooling and the speed I aim for is 3.3Ghz so that means a FSB speed of 367Mhz, does this also mean that DDR2-800 is fast enough as that would mean it's running at 733Mhz ??

Is there any reason to get DDR2-1000 ??
 
some processors have a lower multi so to get a higher clock you would need a higher FSB, the E4300 is 9x the FSB, whereas the E6300 is a 7x multi so it would need a higher FSB for the same clock

You have to run it in sync on 965P boards.

Are there any problems/instability/speed issues with running out of sync and is it possible to run the memory slower than the FSB or just higher?

Basically I don't want to end up being limited by the memory but on the other hand don't want to spend double for PC8500 if it isn't needed.

The 650i board is fine. Im running at 400FSB with DDR2 667 memory so 333Mhz on the RAM and its fine

you have to run it sync on P35 boards aswell, you basically have to on all intel chipsets
 
Some argue 1:1 gets better clocks and that 1:1 can actually give better performance than running out of sink with fast RAM. You'll probably get away with running 666Mhz rated ram (PC5400/PC5300) at those speeds. You won't need more than PC6400 to run at less than or equal to 800Mhz.

That's what I wanted to hear, so by getting PC6400 I can run at 400Mhz FSB guaranteed in sync 1:1
