Hi Guys,

Ive currently overclocked my 1.8 E4300 to 3.1ghz, however i feel i can get more out her.

When i try to get 3.2ghz i get a BSOD on bootup, ive tried increasing the vcore up 2 notches but im not too sure how high i can go with the vcore as im a bit of a noob in regards to overclocking.

Any advice would be much appriciated.

Thanks
Jas

If you have a decent cooler then give it some volts.

I've been running my E4300 for about a year now. When I first got it I pushed it as far a 1.6V, ran it at 1.5 for about a month the settled on a slightly lesser clock and cooler running with 1.475V. It's been running at that for a year now, no sign of a hiccup only my flaky Abit FP-IN9 occasionally forgets all the BIOS settings !

CPU is still fine in Orthos, 3dmark, games etc.

I have mine under a big Typhoon with a slow fan

same here really, ran at 3.2 for ages and only recently jumped to 3.4 (with water). i stuck 1.5 through it then worked my way down to see what was stable.

I think the sticky for C2D clocking says you can go 1.45 but might want to check that.

Other than raising volts there are a couple of things you can do with this chip.

As the multi is fairly high (x9) you can try lowering the multi if you have a lot of FSB headroom on your motherboard.

If you're feeling adventurous and dangerous it is possible to remove the IHS on some (if not all) the e4300 chips to get a wopping temp decrease which should in itself open up a couple of hundred MHz of overclocking room and allow more volts.

Remember the saying that "volts don't kill chips, temp do". Not sure how true it is but it hasn't failed me so far.

Well ive got her to 3.40Ghz atm using 1.450v.

Thats with all the fans in my Antec 900 on max, cooler fan on max (Freezer 7) idle temps are 39 - 40c load temps are around 70c which is a bit too hot for my liking...
