Hi

I want to get an overclock of about 2.7ghz but don't really want to increase voltages if I can help it or only by a touch as I don't want to damage anything.

I set:
CPU host frquency to 300mhz
PCI express frequency to 100mhz
System memory multiplier to 2.00 so memory is at 600

left everything else as standard

Rebooted and ran core temp, 2 copies of Orthos and CPUz

Screen went black after 10 mins but mouse pointer still moved about so I rebooted and now wondering what to do.

Any advice?

Thanks

Droped fsb to 290 and ran dual core orthos for 22mins and hasn't crashed but temps are up to 62degrees in core temp.

Dissapointed as this seems to be the limit of overclockability. If I push vcore up more it will push temps up even more.

Only option is better cpu cooling which is why I got the actic freezer in the first place. Don't know what speed arctic freezer 7 pro is at tho. Any way I can check the speed of the fan? Speedfan says rpm is 350000. What should fan control be set to in bios?

Cant use Intel Thermal Analysis Tool (TAT) to verify temps as it says I need to run it as administrator under vista 32 even though I am administrator

help...

I might just stick with it more or less as it is as i don't want the hastle of having to reseat the cpu - don't like doing things like that and don't want to break anything.

Very dissapointed with arctic freezer 7 pro tho. I have a fan in the front, side and back, nice airy case and still crappy overclock.

Do most people turn the arctic 7 on full blast by disabling the fan control in the bios? I did that so it ran at 2500rpm and temps went down to 55-56 at full load when overclocked.

Is it OK to run the fan at 2500 24/7? Couldn't hear it over my also crappy "whisper quite", LOL LOL LOL, "vacuum cleaner" like OCZ 600W stealthxtream PSU.

Not sure what to do with memory for best performance tho. I have multiplier set to 2.4 so memory is running at 684 and have not touched advanced ram settings - any advice on best settings for ram / fsb with a max fsb of 285 and ram rated at 675mhz?

Thanks

Pete

I'm using whatever was applied to the arctic 7 freezer pro.

I'm having a bit more success now. I turned off all the stuff that drops the voltage / multiplier when cpu is idle and the overclock seems more stable now at 2.7

I have even managed to undervolt the cpu to 1.31875V to try to reduce temps but they still just touch 60degrees at times in coretemp 0.95 (which gives the highest reading out of everything) when running orthos - from what i have read I think this is an acceptable temp when both cores are maxed out as most of the time the wont be.

Have not got a clue what to do with memory though. Multiplier is at 2.4 so its running at 720 and don't know if that is bad for this config or not. Memory is at std voltage at moment.

Here is my memory specs http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/CM2X1024-5400C4.pdf which suggests 4-4-4-12 at 1.9v

Bios says this about memory (ctrl f1) but I have not got a clue

CAS LAtency =5
dran ras to cas = 5
ras prechange = 5
prechange delay = 15
act to act delay 3
rank write to read delay =3
write to prechange delay =5
referesh to act delay=36
read to prechange delay = 3
trd=6
trd phase adjustment = 0

the memory pane on cpu-z states which differs from bios

frequency = 360
fsb:dram 5:6
cas latency = 5
ras to cas delay = 6
ras prechange =6
cycle time(trans)=17

spd pane says

frequency = 333
cas latency = 5
ras to cas delay = 5
ras prechange =5
cycle time(trans)=15
trc=19

A little help please...
