e4400 help ... ?

okay so this is a bit wierd and might be normal but dual core is new to me so it might just be how it works.

im looking at cpuz and where it says core speed.

it seems to change from 2000Mhz with x10 multiplier
to 1200Mhz with x6 multiplier.

not sure if it does it in game or not . but its changing back and forth every 2 seconds .

any ideas or is it normal ?

You have speed step enabled, when the system is idle the cpu drops the multiplier, when you start running programmes ect it will automaticaly up the speed.

This can be disabled in the BIOS, I still leave mine on, overclocked to 3.0ghz.

LOL u got there b4 i did . it just keeps ** cpu cooler when its not needed to run maxed out. i have it off just to make sure hehe
