i can get one of these CPU's off a friend to upgrade my pentium dual core, i have herd that these can be overclocked much easier then my pentium, just need to know what the possobilitys are.

system spec

intel core 2 duo E4500
Gigabyte GA-P31-D3SL
2 x 1GB DDR2-1066

any thoughts?
thank you

well, your CPU has M0 Stepping, These types of CPU are relatively low wattage, so it shouldn't really be a problem overclocking.

Just remember CPU FSB Effects your RAM FSB, so it can only go as high as your memory can, stable, even on a 2:1 ratio.

However, I estimate you could get it up easilly to 3.2-3.4GHz perfectly fine and still keep it nice, cool and stable.

I got my E6300 up to 3.6 once, but my RAM became unstable, so dropped to 3.2 and it's of similar comparison to your E4500

sorry i have not got the CPU off him yet, but will definately get it now, i have got a coolermaster TX3 here too so should be able to easily get 3.0GHz, thanks everyone, will post back when i get it
