ive read up on quite a few reviews, and i see people saying 'u must use the 12.5 multiplier' i can only get mine to 12, and cant seem the get the '0.5' up,
its running at 3.2, 12x, 266.7, 1.167v the mobo is a FP-IN9 SLI abit fatal1y 650 sli,
i know its not the best in the world runs at 40-50c and every time i run 3D o6 it fails hard on the cpu test

I expect either your motherboard or BIOS do not allow the 0.5 steps in multiplier. Check the manufacturers website to see if it does. If it is capable then you may need to update your BIOS for it to work.

You should try running Prime or some other specific CPU stress tester. It sounds as if your not running stable, which means you will have to either up the voltage or drop the multi (or both).

Hmmmm, I'm thinking the nForce 650 doesn't support half multipliers, but check you've got the latest bios.
 
Yep as has been said according to their website the latest bios (16?) doesn't specifically mention 0.5 multi support and the cpu support list shows it in 'test' status. Mind you that page was last updated end of sept last year lol.

What is the VID of your chip, running at 1.167 seems a bit low especially as you're trying to o/c, does it run at stock ok?
 
Fatal1ty CPU Support List, mind you it also shows as supporting the E7200 which has a 0.5 multi. I know I was in same position on my Gigabyte, 7200 supported, 5200 not but mine runs ok.

The VID (Voltage ID) spec is calibrated during manufacturing, most peeps prize a low VID in the belief it gives more voltage headroom for o/c'ing but as with most things in o/c'ing you can't take anything for granted. Having a low VID doesn't guarantee your chip will be a good clocker, likewise a high VID doesn't mean your chip will be a poor clocker.

Both CoreTemp or RealTemp will show your chip's VID as well as temps obviously lol. The other essential program to get is CPU-Z which shows your Bus Speed, CPU multiplier, CPU voltage, RAM speed and ratios plus other useful stuff.

FWIW the VID on my E5200 is 1.225 and it won't go past 3.0GHz on that voltage, it tops out at 3.5GHz at 1.36v which seems to be Intels max recommended value for this CPU and as my system runs 24/7 I'm not going to push it any further. From what I've seen my chip seems to be just slightly below average.
