Hey guys from UK, I hope you will help me, although I am from Germany :P I already searched many hours for a solution for my overclocking problem, but I couldn't find anything helpfull, I think my Mainboard (Asus P5KPL-AM EPU) is kinda rare. Over google I finally came to this forum, where someone had the same mainboard and you, especially a user called "Big.Wayne" with a nice profilepicture, could help him: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18084089

So I hope now, that you can help me aswell ^^ My E5200 on my old abit mainboard ran on 3ghz. Though I am not a "bios pro" I could manage the overclocking options in its BIOS myself. The BIOS-options of my new mainboard are a mystery for me. All I want is that my E5200 runs at least at 3ghz again, I just have a noname aircooler.

Anyone have a clue?

With regards from Germany,
Puum

Did you read through the thread you linked to? Have you tried the +20% overclock profile? I don't know the BIOS of that board but I can't imagine it can be that hard to find the mentioned overclock profile.

Hello Puum,

welcome to OcUK forums! :)

Please make sure to read the forum rules and enjoy your stay!

I used half a dozen Asus P5KPL-AM EPU boards, couldn't resist the £33 pound price tag! :p . . . good little LGA775 boards capable of a "mild" overclock and very stable . . . .

As you have found out maybe the BIOS options are rather limited, most crucially there is *no* vCore adjustment so you can only overclock the processor as far as the standard voltage will take it! . . . you should be able to just squeeze out 3GHz though from a E5200 . . .

Due to the limited BIOS options there is no proper NB-Strap option and therefore you run into problems when you try to overclock a processor with a "native" 200MHz-FSB (800MHz System Bus) such as an E5200 . . . I noticed this when struggliong to get a decent FSB overclock from a E5200 and then swapping out for a newer E6300 chip that was "native" 266MHz-FSB (1066MHz System Bus) and the FSB problems went away . . . . the same E5200 had no trouble running higher FSB's when installed in a "proper" overclocking board such as the ASUS P5Q-E

In light of all this I would say try your luck with the [Auto] 20% overclock function (2.5GHz + 20% = 3.0GHz) . . . if that doesn't work (doesn't POST, boot, etc) then find the Memory-Speed option in BIOS, lower it and try again . . . if that still doesn't work then it may be your chip cannot run 3.0GHz without a voltage boost?

What speed memory do you have Puum?

Omg, life can be so easy. The overclocking profile works, even the +20%. Now I have my 3ghz, it is even 3.01ghz! :D I never thought that this option works ^^

What's about my speed memory now? Do I have to change some RAM settings? Any other suggestions?

Thank you so far :)

Edit: In Windows it is still 2.5ghz, but in BIOS it was 3.01ghz

Ok, I have disabled OS cpu speed control in BIOS, now I have 3.01ghz in Windows aswell. Do I have to change something at my memory settings now?
