It's for an office pc. Fairly dull specs, matx board, 4gb of corsair 800. I think the e5200 + ssd (probably agility) will be faster, as the usage will never push either cpu.

However, I've owned the e8400 and a couple of ssds, but not the e5200. Consequently I have no real idea of how much slower it is. Any thoughts?

For MS office stuff the E5200 at stock will not even get streached.
Would love a SSD in my office pc - but a F1 would be more than enough surely - and have room for staff itunes folder and photos.

Depends which SSD - some SSD's read/write times are as slow as 7200rpm single-spindle hard disks. Now if we're talking Intel x25... :)

Thats quite a reassuring set of responses. I'll see how well I sell the idea, currently looking at £300 to £350 without ssd and another 100 on top with the ssd. I think its worth every penny, we'll see how the user feels about this.

Cheers
