Hi

I was just stressing my E5200 in my HTPC to see how the passive Mini Ninja was working. Idle temps are 31c and it 38c on load.

Is that normal? 7c more under load on a passive cooler? Well I say passive, but there are 2x 120mm fans reasonable close to it.

Also, it's 2.5Ghz Dual Core. I ran wPrime on 2 threads and the 1024M test took 978.872 seconds. I also ran in on my stock Q6600 (but with 4 threads obviously) and it took 572.145 seconds.

I was expecting the 2 threads on Dual 2.5Ghz to come in reasonably similar to 4 threads on Quad 2.4Ghz, not to take 70% longer! Is my logic flawed here? If not, does this account for the 7c increase in temps when loaded?

When you run it on stock speed it will be pretty cool. Try to OC a bit and see how temps jump up after breaching 3.5-4GHz:)

I have overclocked mine runs 3.8ghz quite nicely and still pretty cool at idle and not bad at load and that in a Lian-Li 6 series case which by todays standards is a warm one to say the least.
Runs a lot cooler than the Q9xxx series chips for sure and the E6xxx chips.
