Hey I was wondering how far I should be scared to go with the voltages on my CPU for OC'ing. CPU-Z Says its at 1.120 most of the time but then it also jumps around beetwen that and 1.184 and 1.168. EIST is turned on in the BIOS.

So how much of an overvolt is safe before it starts getting risky

Thanks in advance;)

Thanks, I turn EIST off when the OC is stable, I just thought I'd tell you its on incase that was what was making the volts jumpy:).

So how many volts should I put through it to get an OC of about 3.5GHz?

Depends on your personal chip/batch/VID etc

35ghz280x125ibtmaxpl1.gif

1.325vCore [BIOS set] - 1.312vCore Full Load [CPU-z]

Not so much a case of how much of an overvolt from your vid but the maximum safe of 1.4v. Anything more will lead to electrical migration within the chip regardless of temp's. More than 1.4v will be fine but will drastically lower the lifespan of the chip.
