Have you changed them already then?

I would get it done by a Dealer or specialist to be honest. It is a lot of money but you have come back and some kind of guarantee.

Like any very high performance car, ownership comes with a high premium. You can break out the spanners and have ago yourself and with spark plugs not much is likely to go wrong. However that is the first thing that a garage will want to change if you ever have to take it in for any kind of running problems in the future and you will pay out again.

I learn't my lesson this way a few years back this way. After I paid out for all the bits again I did myself they found a totally different problem. However they argued it didn't meet manufacturer specs so they had to start there.

Or can you buy your cheap plugs and have the dealer of choice install them? You save a bit, but still get your service stamp and none of the hassle or potentially costly mistakes... or wouldnt they entertain that?

They are on regular E60's but I'm pretty sure the M5 has them done seperately? Hence it having a specific 'Change Spark Plugs' on the iDrive whereas I don't think the 525i, 530i etc do.

After LCI it's just every third oil change if I remember correctly but there is still space in the book.

The BMW user manual for the M5 doesn't list spark plugs as an option on CBS only the items I listed in a post above which is the same as non M cars CBS items. I think they are still tied to one of the oils services.

Spark plugs (not displayed in the CBS)
Maintenance work:
Replace spark plugs at intervals of
37,000 miles.
