E6300 @ 2.8, who's got one?

Did a quick test at 3.7ghz on stock voltages, which passed LinX. Should be a good one when i up the voltage more :D

Look very promising Gammawolf!

I will be interested to see what vCore you need for a stable 4.0GHz

Any box info (revision, batch etc?).

Theese sound like a very good chip at a nice price, a good gaming rig on a budget, coupled with a reasonably priced vid card, it seems like a very attainable solution wih this cpu.

Couldn't agree more setter! :)

This is my stop gap gaming box based on a £35 uATX G31/Bearlake (PCI-E 1.0) motherboard, Intel® Pentium® Dual Core E6300, Radeon HD4890, Corsair HX520 wrapped up in an Antec 300 :D

It doesn't have any vCore adjustment so can only take the MHz as far as the stock vCore will allow. The first chip does 3.33GHz (10x333) with no effort at all, the second does 3.5GHz (10.5x333) with the same basic voltage. For peeps who pop one of these chips into a overclockers board I can't see anyone getting less than 3.8GHz-4GHz . . .

Heres a simple 3DMark06 run in the HTPC/Gaming machine above with E6300 @ 3.3GHz

That is a very tidy system big wayne, ive noticed lately with games, no real difference cpu wise from my first intel core 2, the e6600, then q6600 and current q9550, i currently run a gtx 280 but my chosen resoluion dictated that (1920x1200) i use my pc for blu ray as well, the 4890 by all accounts is a fantastic card, i actually thought about geting shot of my gtx 280 and giving crossfire a try on my p5q dlx, x8 per slot at pcie2.0 loses very little compared to the older x48 boards, ive had sli in the past on nforce4 and nforce 680i, ive never owned an ati card at all tbh, but they seem to be releasing some great performing cards at very competitive prces.:)

Thats a pretty goodscore on 06, best i ever managed was 19454 with my q6600 @3.8ghz and my gtx 280 clocked very close to killing it, ive actually stopped overclocking/benching graphics cards nowadays, to much heat/power when they do all my needs at their stock speed, if a game gets a bit laggy, i drop certain details, not oc the card till it runs like a furnace, to me gaming is about the fun playing the game, not staring at fps counters.

Cheers mate, quite standard affair really and not much to look at but excluding hard-drives/optical drive that cost me £300 to put together (used Radeon and Corsair PSU from MM). It does a fine job at FPS gaming and every other task I through at it so no complaints here!

The Intel® Pentium® Dual Core E6300 is a nice budget chip for anyone with a spare LGA775 motherboard, even at stock 2.8GHz (10.5x333) it matches up nicely with a kit of DDR2-1066 and then your just needing a GPU good enough for your gaming needs!

I sold my E8400 and put the funds towards a few of these chips, testing them for fun then installing them in some cheapy builds for friends/clients. The main investment I have still in the LGA775 platform is the ASUS P5Q-E which I was tempted to sell and buy two budget Bearlake boards to go with the Pentium® E6300's but then I won't be able to spend hours overclocking anymore! :p

I don't think I can say a bad word about these chips really, I noticed clock for clock they lost out in some benchmarks compared against the 6MB cache E8400's but that's not gonna be a concern for someone in the Real-World who isn't a benchmarker! ;)

Im shortly switching to i7 myself wayne, as i fancy a new toy to play with, bought an asus p6t v2 earlier, but ill say one thing, the s775 p45 boards and associated cpus are outstanding, the fun ive had clocking my 2 quads on this deluxe was fantastic, my nephew works at fixing computers and hes really keen on an s775 setup, and keen to know about overclocking, so it may well end up in his hands, my biggest regret is not trying an s775 dual core, such as the E8400, (of which you had a few good ones) as they seem to be awesome clocking cpu's. Btw the antec 300 looks like a very nice wee case, ive seen the 900 in the flesh and liked the look of it as well

Hey setter your only allowed to graduate from LGA775 by publishing a stable 4GHz overclock ;)

Are you not tempted to flog your Quad and play with one of these little Pentium®'s :p

If you use your Irish charm you may be able to pocket almost £100 to go towards your next toy and still have a tonkin' LGA775 system for your Nephew!

There may be a chance wayne that ill go to i7 and relegate my current lga775 to my second rig (currently an athlon 64 4000 s939, at stock) which is struggling, my nephew is a big amd fan, ive told him and shown him how good s775 is, my last toy was getting a blu ray drive for the pc, im a big movie buff, just got band of brothers on blu ray today, looks great on my 24" monitor, 4ghz on my current setup would be very nice, but ive run into a few issues with stability at 471 fsb, gtl tweaking seems to be the main thing to look at with 45nm cpu's once you go above 450 fsb.

Give me a few days on that one, currently moving house on sunday so the box is packed away :(.

In regards to temps they could be far better as i've been running my fenrir as a passive hs .

I've bought it a fortnight ago, and have never EVER overclocked in my life. A kindly gent on the newsgroups told me what to do in simple one syllable words :D It's running at 3.4, and temperatures are maybe about a 5-8 degrees higher than stock 2.8, which was about 21 degrees to 27
Cooler is a Zalman 9500 by the way.
Delighted with the CPU, price and performance are excellent.

Be very gratified if someone could tell me how to overclock it to 3.8
4 is a bridge too far, I think.

I got mine about 2 weeks ago and its running 3.7Ghz on stock volts, all you do is increase the fsb to 350. Also, what kind of RAM/Mobo have you got? I managed that on a cheap Gigabyte P43-ES3G

Finally got my internet back :@, after the countless mess ups my isp made transferring us from the old place.

Temi_D, i'd also like to see the box info of your e6300 if you happen to have it, wonder if we both have the same batch number :D
