I can get my E6300 to 2282 thats 7x326 and its stable
If i take it any higher prime95 will error instantly
As this is my first go at overclocking i could do with a little bit of help from where to go from here.
All ive done so far is increased CPU host frequency and changed Memory frequency to 2
Every thing else is at default i checked out this link from anther post but unsure whether the same setting would apply as my ram is differnt

If any one could point me in right direction that would be great especially if they got same ram as me. (may be screen shot of the bios setting :D )
Gigabyte DS3
Intel E6300 | Freezer Pro
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5

In CPU-Z, what is your RAM timings? I know some of the Gigabyte boards set the RAM to CAS 3. If so try to loosen the timings to CAS 5. Press Ctrl + F1 in the BIOS to change RAM timings. The timings will be displayed in the same section where you change your FSB.

Just an idea?

Other than that you may want to increase your Dimm voltage and VCore. Your ram can handle 2.3v and you could possibly up your Vcore a little, although I managed to get my e6300 over 3ghz all with normal volts.

Here a screeny of my setting am still not 100% sure what i should be changing so i numbered them to make it easy for a reply
Then hopefully i ll get more of an idea of what going on
thanks guys

Yeah, your CAS Latency is at 3. Dont know why the gigabyte boards do this but you should really try setting the CAS latency to 5. Set this in your BIOS and make sure that it changes in CPU-Z. If it does not work you may need to flash the bios to a more update version, as there is some beta updates available.

If does set to 5, try overclocking a bit from there, see how you get on.

im not sure if your board can do this or not (get somone to confirm this before you do it) but you could change the multi and when it goes unstable up the vcore then carry on doing this until temps get too high. (i hold no responsibility for your ocing so get someone to confirm you can do this before you do it) :D

what i found is if i set bios to defaults 7x266 timing are 5 5 5 15 (auto settings)
when i am at 7x326 timings are 3 5 5 15 (auto settings)
If i manually set to 5 when at 7x326 it won't post get the fan on off on off crap
I am at F3 so guess ill wait till stable F4 ill leave the beta ones alone as overall i very happy with my new set up and even with cpu at 2.2 its no slow coach

Hi m8,
A few points
Dont bother with the software. Just try doing it all from the bios. Uninstall
Dont bother with Ctrl F1 just yet

Manual set PCI-E to 100
Mem Multi 2
7X
Set Dimm to 0.1 Overvolt
Set FSB & MCH to 0.1 Overvolt
Leave CPU at default

Now try 350 on the FSB?

Does it boot in windows?

If Yes create 2 dirs with prime95 in
Run each copy up settining affinity to each core ( 0 & 1 )

If it wont boot or prime fails Increase CPU voltage 1.350 volts
If it wont boot or prime fails Increase CPU voltage 1.375 volts
Dont go above 1.400

If you still cant boot up try setting the MCH & fsb to 0.2 and start again with default volts on the cpu.

On my DS4 the only thing you should have to change is the FSB & MCH .1 should be good for 475 but your milage may vary and a DS3 may be different.

If you still have problems Ctrl F1 to slaken memory to 5,5,5,15 and repeat above.

Assuming everything works when you get to 350 up the FSB by 10 until prime fails. Then inc cpu voltage if that doesnt work it's your ram so slaken with 5,5,5,15. You need to try and take the ram out of the equation when initally overclocking but you shouldnt have to do this at low FSB's

Good luck :)

Thanks for that Asgurd dont what you said all seems good so far at 2492Mhz
Ive been using a Orthos instead of prime its based on prime but it seems a little neater have tested both and if prime errors orthos odes as well it also does both cpu's
Any feed back on this would be good Orthos
Also i was only using easy tune to monitor cpu temp any other suggestions am now using Speedfan

UPDATE : Am now @ 2.9 couple of hours into Orthos :D
19sec super-pi :)
Thanks again Asgard

No problem. :)

Nice m8. Keep us informed with your progress.

It will be a great feeling when you break 3G's

Glad to hear you got it sorted EKsparky.

Regarding the Cas latency timing, my board(DS3) had the same problem of setting the cas latency to 3 even when set at 5 in the bios. I think its a known bug with the bios hopefully the next bios will fix it(cmon giga).

I was having the same problem have you tried what Asgard said forget Ctrl F1
Every time i clock the timings in cpu-z change sometimes they are 5 sometimes 3
I at 2.9 and CPU volts still at default
my board ds3
