Hi

Which of the amd X2 cpu's is equivelant in performance to the E6300 C2D. I'm talking non oc'd cpu's.

I did look on the toms hardware cpu charts but the E6300 is not on there.

Thanks

um... I guess a X2 4800+ is around the same speed at a pinch...

if your looking to buy then a 4600+ is less than 5% slower than a 4800+ and more readily available... you'd prolly have to buy an X2 5000 now.

Thanks.

I was just trying to work out if i could buy a quicker amd cpu for the same price as the E6300 but i don't think you can! :)

6300 = £100-110 depending where you shop, 4600+ is about £140+ and 5000 200 ish...

as a quick rule of thumb, to get roughly the same performance from an X2/FX-60/FX-62 cpu as a conroe you need an AMD with a 25% higher clock speed to the conroe...

This chart is great for comparing a lot of processors and you can pick from loads of different benchmarks, only downside, theres no e6300 data :(

now now, your upset FatRakoon if he see's you saying that ;),

I doubt that you would upset him. All he is saying is that he is not seeing the massive improvement in his overall computing experience he was expecting and that, given his particular circumstances, he has gone back to a theoretically slower system. For single tasks I think he would totally agree that Core2Duo's beat anything AMD has to offer.

What he's talking about is when you have several different applications open simultaneously and both cores of the processor are maxed out. In that scenario there does appear to be some truth in his statements that the AMD system is more responsive to user input under those circumstances.

Which is totally different to what I'm seeing... I wonder if its down to something simple like a virus scanner or background service difference between the 2 PCs...
