As the title says, I have an Intel E6300 which I was running fine at 2.8Ghz since I bought it. But today I started to mess around and see if I could push it to 3Ghz with the stock cooler.

I updated the BIOS on my Gigabyte 965P DS3 from F5 for F10 and tried changing a the volts for the RAM and CPU (+0.1v and 1.375) and trying to boot it at 3Ghz. It didn't like and restarted changing the setting back to default.

So I went back into the BIOS and tried changing the settings back to what I was using before today. But when I saved and restarted, it said it there was something wrong with the BIOS, and then it said "Recovering BIOS". Once that had finished it restarted, and now I have fast beep on a loop and the CPU fan doesn't spin. The case fans spins (which is plugged into a molex) and the GPU fan spins. And I can't get into the BIOS to check any settings.

If I plug the CPU fan into the "Sys Fan" the cooler will spin, but I still get the beeps, and nothing will show on the monitor.

Any help with this would greatly be appreciated.

Cheers. Sly. :)

Yup, tried that a couple of times didn't help.

I had to do that earlier in the day but the beeps were different then, and when I cleared the CMOS it did boot again. So I think this is something different.

I was just checking in my motherboard manual because Ulfhedjinn mentioned something about a DualBios. And I noticed "Continuous short beeps = Power Error" Not sure how I can check the power though. It's putting power into the computer for fans to spin, and PSU fan is spinning, so I'm not sure what's wrong.

I've done some more messing around. I tried to boot without the graphics card and I still got the beeps, but the CPU fan started up. So I've tried swapping the RAM and only trying to boot with one stick in same again and the CPU fan still started. So I put the graphics card back in with only the one stick of RAM, still getting the beeps, and the CPU fan still spins up now.

It's getting weird and I have no idea what else to try.

Okay, managed to test it with a different PSU and I'm still getting the beeps so I'm guessing it's all down to the motherboard now.

So what I need to know is will this motherboard still be in warranty, even though I've overclocked on it and updated the BIOS?

Thanks for the reply.

Tried taking the battery out that didn't help and I've tried it without the graphics card being in there, and without any RAM and just a single stick of RAM. Get the same beeps everytime.

I was using an Antec PSU that came with the NSK400

Gigabyte have said it could be a defective CPU or the motherboard.

If it the motherboard would it still be under warranty?

'Mesh' never heard of them before but it was given to me for free, so I just put it to one side as an emergency backup really.

Tried both PSU's without the graphics card being in there as well.

Also the Antec has 32amps on the 12V rail so I thought that would be enough and it came with a 6 pin adapter for PCI-E. So I didn't think it would be a problem.

:( Thanks for you help.

The Gigabyte manual says they can't be held responsible for a motherboard breaking after a BIOS update. Does that just mean if it was the update that caused the fault, or does it make the warranty invalid by updating it.

Yeah after I'd updated the BIOS it was fine.

It's just the manual doesn't really make it clear if updating the BIOS makes the warranty invalid.

And yeah I'll be RMA'ing to OCuK but I thought they'd still have to send it off to Gigabyte for testing.
