Finally got my system up and running yesterday once my new board arrived, and when I went into the BIOS screen to get things moving it was stating my CPU temperature was already 41 degrees. Is this right?

I was expecting with the Freezer Pro 7 for it to be a lot less. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

i think you will find the the cores are even hotter

download TAT or Core Temp and see the real temps of the cpu

maybe the heatsink isn't sat right or something, as that is very hot

OK.

Will try that tonight. I had a feeling that was too hot, but wasnt sure as not used the Freezer Pro before. Anyone have any ideas on what it should be running at, before overclocking?

Will have to try and turn the cooler around, see if that makes a difference.

i use that cooler on a e6600

and my temps are about 35 idle on the core, in a cool room, and the bios reports the cpu at about 20.. so urs is pretty warm

mines not over clocked though

i have the fan on the freezer facing the front of the case, so it pulls air from the front through the heatsink and out of the back exhaust fan

If yours are running at that temp then there is definitely a problem. Better get that resolved when I get home then.

Will try turning the fan around and see what that does temp wise. I think its facing the same way as yours, but not 100% certain.

There is no fan at the back of the case though, just the grill where one would go. Would this make a difference?

an exhaust fan should help with extracting the warm air past from the cpu, so yeah it should help

120mm fan would be useful

an intake fan also is important, to being air into the case

...
ideally

120mm front fan blowing air towards the freezers fan, the freezer fan pulling that cooler air into the heatsink, which then passes out of the back of the case via the 120mm exhaust fan

got the same cooler and a e6600.

42c at idle not oc'ed.

not running at full speed though, set on 1200 RPM and capable of 2500 if i remember correctly. your temps are not so high, or mines are?

it depends how you are reading the temps

if it is the bios temps, then i think they are high

Out of interest techmob what case are you using?

I have a fan at the front of the case, and one on the side window. Going to get one for the back of the case to ease the flow as your previous post suggests.

I think I found the problem, and hoping when I get home it will resolve the issue. The missus says that the fan is pointing downwards, so the warm air is coming out of the back of the cooler and into the fan on the PSU above it.

Not really good, and probably explains the high temps. Dont really fancy removing the mobo again though, as only just done all the cabling. Bugger!

i have the lian li v1000 plusII

120mm front
120mm exhaust
120mm side-exhaust
thesync bay -120mm intake in 3 drive bays

and my temps are still not as low as some others with this cooler, but mine are deffo safer than yours
