Hey people - I've been lurking here a while so thought I'd actually sign up and make a post now I'm considering building up a new rig.

I have read good things about the E6300 & DS3 combo, however - I am on an extremely tight budget. How does the S3 compare to the DS3?

Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 or the Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3

Also regarding RAM - I am in two minds weather or not to go for the XMS2 800 or the XMS2 675. Would the 675 have a detrimental effect on my overclocking options? If anyone know's any good ram combo's that compliment the Motherboard and CPU then fire away, I'm all ears.

I am an overclocking novice, I have read the sound advice within the thread stickies in the Overclocking forum, so I will be opting for the AC Freezer 7 Pro.

Video Card: Either the X1800XT or X1900XT, which card I get will be determined by how much I save on the main build :P

Hope you guys can help - cheers in advance.

get the x1800xt, its pritty much level pegging with the x1900xt in most games, and it even out performs in a few, and despite what most people say the cooler i find is not noisey at adl, apart from when booting up where it hits full for about 1-2 seconds, deffers x1800xt for the win :)

Thanks for the welcome! :D

May I ask, what is the difference between Solid state caps and.. a board that doesn't have them? I've read a couple of reviews and the S3 seem's to be less favored.

Gigabyte claims the solid (not solid-state) capacitors last longer. It says the board with standard caps should last 3-4 years but the one with solid caps should last 5 years plus. It's up to you whether you think it's worth it. FWIW I went with a DS4.
