I have currently got mu E6300 overclocked to 3.2Ghz but it is idling at 55c.

I am using a Arctic Pro freezer 7 the first rev and was wondering if that could be why the idle temps are so high? I am using the thermal paster that came with my TRUE which is currently on my overclocked Q6600.

Are the idle temps too high and which cooler should i go for to lower them?

Thanks

Yeah it seems to be seated properly. The VID of the chip is around 1.325 so i think the highest i went to was 1.34v

Those temps are close to what mine were when I had an e6300 @ 3.3Ghz with a Scythe ninja cooler. The load temp especially is very good considering my Q8400 goes up to 72c.

The idle temp for mine was around 46c so I think your temps with an arctic 7 are probably correct.

Is this a Core2 E6300 Conroe? If so think your temps are a little high, this is what I was getting a few weeks ago @ 3.34GHz, my CPU and cooler are both lapped but there was only around 2-3C difference after lapping. I am also using Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste. Load was two instances of Prime95 Small FFTs.
