Ok so with the water cooling being ordered tonight with a bit of luck, I want to push my e6300 even more.

At the moment I have it running 100% stable at 3.01ghz. Now I know its my 800mhz Corsair C5 ram that is holding me back, so some new RAM is needed to push more.

Do you think it will be possible to get this chip closer to 4ghz with the correct RAM? For example this:

Thanks

1066FSB x 7 Multi CPU correct ?

Your going to need push 570+FSB to get 4GHZ, doubt CPU or Mobo can do that.

Should have sold the CPU, not bought WC and bought a E8X00 CPU, do 4GHZ no probs with Quiet Air.

I'm at 4GHZ on 1.1v (was 1.054v on Nvidia Mobo) using a Noctua 120mm Cooler, but Orthos/Primes it with no fan running.

i thought the gigabyte ds3 was capable of up to 600fsb?

was wanting to go water cooling anyway, possibly look into the new cpu early next year.

The P45 gives the best chance of 500Mhz FSB at the moment but really this isn't easy. 4Ghz on a 1.86Ghz chip is also really doubtful except on phase. Still, you can sell the E6300 and pick up a new CPU for a decent price. E5200 seems quite good at the moment, but remember it is a lower DC and loses Intel VT and has only an 800mhz bus. Still, there are a number of options available.

lol 4Gig on a E6300?
get real fella :)

Mine work E6300 is running happily enough at 3.2Gig with only a single notch raise in voltage and the stock Intel cooler.

The p965 chipsets could hit some impressive FSB speeds but 500Mhz was around as high as they would go afaik without really big voltages. If your running a DS3 the northbridges got mega hot so a 40mm fan or bigger heatsink would help.

I think 4 Ghz isn't reli achievable, but GO FOR IT put the quicker ram in and see just how far you can push it!! I rekon you could make 3.5-3.6 at least.

Well when i googled, there were some people getting pretty close on air supposidly, just thought i would post up my question on a respectable overclocking forum :P

may aswell go for it though!

Its the Ram thats holding me back to.
I am sure I could go to 3.5gig on no probs
but I dont think the outlay for better ram is worth it.

i ran mine at 3.2 for 12 months, it has done 3.4 but not prime stable, alltho i think this was due to my pc5300 topping out
