Don't want to over clock just want the best value i can get for a solid running machine.

Is the 4mb cache worth it over the 2mb of the 6300?

will most likely go in a asrock matx case.

can the mods leave this thread in this section as not many people seem to go in the SFF forum.

thanks,

If you're not overclocking, then the 6600 has a fair bit higher clock speed, which will make far more difference than the cache. I'd say get the 6600 but it all depends how much performance you need, if 6300 is enough, get that.

thats the thing, in real world terms is it worth the extra £80?

It is if you aren't over clocking it (Which IMO is stupid.)

been there, done that....so no, not stupid!

I want a nice solid machine with good performance hence me asking the real world difference between the two chips.

I've done my part in spending hundreds on chips, ram and cooling etc so please don't class me as stupid!

Today, maybe not. In 6 months time, probably. Depends how long you plan to keep it.

If you buy either one now, you can bet your boots that you'll be looking longingly at the Kentsfield in 6 months time and wishing you'd waited. Whatever you get now, you can always sell later and offset the money against something better.

difficult question really....about how long to keep it.

everytime i think sod it i'll get the 6300, i look at the price and think...it's only another £80.

£80 could be spent on something else though.

i hate making decisions!!!!!!
