Well i overclocked my Core 2 Duo E6300 to 3Ghz ([email protected]) and it's running a little hot (about 50*C idle or high load) and I'm using the default cooler, which I know won't be terribly good for overclocking, what would you recommend.

Other Specs if it matters.

Gigabyte GA-965P-S3
ATi X1900XT 256MB (625 Core, 1450 mem)
Tagan 500W.

I can guarantee that the stock cooler is your problem! If you don't have a lot of money to spend, consider the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro - it seems to do everyone well, and one guy even has his E6300 at 3.3Ghz using one :D

Artic Freezer 7 Pro is awesome for the money.

Me with Stock cooler;
IDLE: 51-54 ish, sometimes up to 56
LOAD: 67ish, hits 70 rarely.

Arctic:
IDLE: Just under 40 degrees, or sometimes 41-43
LOAD: Max about 56, thats on Orthos, when playing games usually around 50-53.

3.3 Ghz @ 1.328 vcore, when I was using stock cooling I was actually at 1.288 vcore or so, so it would have been even hotter if I had it at 1.328 like I have now.

having owned a lot of coolers (including tuniq, arctic cooler) i would say unless you really have NO REGARD for money then get the arctic cooler freezer 7 :) bloody lovley bit of kit
